An 81-year-old woman is dead after a fatal collision in Surrey Wednesday.
Surrey Police Service is investigating the fatal crash, which occurred in the Whalley neighbourhood around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening (Feb. 11).
A vehicle was eastbound in the 13800-block of 102 Avenue when it collided with an 81-year-old female pedestrian, SPS said in a release.
Surrey Fire Services, BC Emergency Health Services, and SPS Frontline members attended the scene. Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, the release noted, adding it does not appear that speed or impairment were contributing factors in the crash.
SPS’s Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and have assumed conduct of the investigation.
