Maple Ridge theatre group holding auditions on Feb. 2

Emerald Pig reports they have found retired secret agents, but we still need to find a troubled young couple

The Emerald Pig Theatrical Society is holding auditions for an upcoming show, Suburban Standoff. The auditions are happening on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at the South Bonson Community Centre (10932 Barnston View Rd. Pitt Meadows).

Suburban Standoff, a comedy by Michael Grant, director by Hazel Eason and produced by Angela Bell, opens on April 30 at Pitt Meadows Heritage Hall.

It will play there until May 2, then move to the Albion Community Centre in Maple Ridge from May 7 to 10. There will be a performance during the Theatre BC Fraser Valley Zone Festival, sometime between May 17 and 23.

They are looking for Ty, who is described as down on his luck, and a wrong-side-of-the-tracks type. He struggles to survive. He is dating Candy. He has never attempted to commit a crime before, and is trying very hard to be tough.

Candy is a former stripper. She has a heart of gold and doesn’t appear to be too bright – but is there more going on in her head than meets the eye? She is dating Ty, and is very nervous about his plan.

Would-be actors are asked to bring a resume, and be prepared to fill in an audition form.

Rehearsals happen three times per week on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays.

Emerald Pig is a non-profit, non-equity community theatre group, and productions are produced and performed by volunteers.
