Overnight shooting in Surrey believed to be extortion-related, no injuries reported

Police in Surrey are investigating an overnight shooting at a home in Surrey’s Bear Creek neighbourhood that is believed to be extortion-related.

Police responded to a call at 2:20 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 17) of shots fired outside of a home in the 8600 block of Galway Crescent.

Upon arrival, police found that the home had been damaged by gunfire. There were no injuries even though the home was occupied at the time of the shooting.

“While the investigation is in its early stages and officers may return to the neighbourhood today to search for physical and digital evidence, investigators believe this incident is extortion-related,” noted a Surrey Police news release Saturday (Jan. 17).

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident, including if you have CCTV or dashcam footage, or who may know the identities of the suspects, to contact SPS’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca and quote file number 26-5510 (SP).
