Political commentator Caroline Elliott enters B.C. Conservative leadership contest

Caroline Elliott, a conservative commentator and former vice-president of the B.C. United Party, officially declared her candidacy for B.C. Conservative leadership in a social media video on Friday (Jan. 16).

She criticized the current government’s “radical reconciliation” agenda and attacked “race-based hiring policies.”

“For years, I’ve stood up for our natural resources, called out the denigration of our history, and pushed back against ideology in our education system,” she said.

Elliott’s expected candidacy was well-known for several days after political operative Kory Teneyke announced on the Hotel Pacifico podcast that he was moving to B.C. to work on her leadership campaign.

Teneyke’s resume includes working as communications director for former prime minster Stephen Harper, and managing Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s election campaigns.

Elliott was unavailable for an interview on Friday, according to a spokesperson.
