Taylor Swift-level ticket demand means Bruno Mars will be playing three concerts at B.C.’s largest stadium this fall.
His tour of North America and Europe was set to end in Vancouver on Oct. 15 at BC Place Stadium, Live Nation Entertainment announced Jan. 8.
But strong ticket demand during an “artist presale” Wednesday led to the announcement of a second concert for Mars at the 54,000-seat stadium, quickly followed by a third. The additional dates at BC Place are Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17.
Concert tickets are sold on BrunoMars.com for the “Romantic Tour,” the performer’s first headline tour in nearly a decade, following his 24K Magic dates in 2017.
Mars, a Grammy Award-winning artist from Hawaii, has booked nearly 40 shows from April to October 2026, including the three in Vancouver (with opener Anderson .Paak as DJ Pee .Wee) and four in Toronto at Rogers Stadium at the end of May. The tour launches in Las Vegas on Friday, April 10 at Allegiant Stadium.
“The Romantic” is the title of Mars’ fourth solo album, due Feb. 27.
Over the past 15 years Mars recorded a string of hits including the recent Die With A Smile with Lady Gaga, Just the Way You Are from 2010 and Locked Out of Heaven from 2012, among many other pop/R&B songs.
Live Nation also announced a Vancouver concert by Chris Stapleton on July 22 at Rogers Arena, with The Teskey Brothers opening the “All-American Road Show” tour date. Tickets are sold starting 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16 on chrisstapleton.com/tour.
Later this year BC Place Stadium will rock with a few concerts including Guns N’ Roses on Aug. 29, AC/DC on Aug. 13 and Foo Fighters on Sept. 20 with Queens of the Stone Age opening.
