Police in Surrey are investigating after shots were fired at a Newton business.
The early-morning shooting, which happened shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 14) in the 8000-block of King George Boulevard, appears to be related to the ongoing series of extortions in the city, a Surrey Police Service release noted.
A business was damaged in the shooting but fortunately, nobody was injured as a result of the incident.
SPS Frontline Investigative Support Team attended; SPS Major Crime Section has taken conduct of the investigation, the release said.
The investigation is in its early stages and investigators are continuing to gather evidence.
“While the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, it appears that this incident is related to the ongoing series of extortions in Surrey,” police said in the release.
