Vernon festival makes debut as provincial member

With just one year under its belt, Vernon’s very first Performing Arts Festival has already reached a major milestone.

The Vernon Performing Arts Festival (VPAF), which took place last year, has joined Performing Arts BC as an Official Member Festival.

“This milestone gives local performers the opportunity to qualify for the Provincial Performing Arts Festival, showcasing Vernon’s artistic talent on a provincial stage,” said Becky Martselos, VPAF president.

Performing Arts BC is a network of regional festivals that promotes excellence in dance, music, and theatre across the province. As a member festival, Vernon joins a community dedicated to supporting emerging artists and encouraging high-level performance standards.

The VPAF will debut as a member festival Feb. 28 to March 12, 2026, with dance, piano, strings and voice.

The Festival celebrates local talent in dance, theatre, and music through adjudicated performances and showcases.

“The festival provides performance opportunities for artists of all ages while fostering creativity, confidence, and community connection.”

Performing Arts BC founded in 1964 is a provincial organization representing a network of community festivals that promote excellence in the performing arts. Each year, the organization hosts the BC Provincial Festival, bringing together top performers from across the province.
