Permits needed to set off fireworks for New Years in Maple Ridge

The City of Maple Ridge is warning residents not to use fireworks to ring in the New Year.

Fireworks and firecrackers are only allowed to be used with a valid permit, the city warned online, as they can cause fires, injuries, and distress for pets and wildlife.

The sale of fireworks is prohibited in Maple Ridge.
