Patients at Ridge Meadows Hospital will be receiving special gifts this holiday season.
A group of Toronto Dominion, (TD), executives from across the Lower Mainland got together on Tuesday, Dec. 16, and put together 400 hygiene kits for people who have to spend the holidays in the hospital. Each kit even had a handwritten note of hope for patients.
Following a fundraising campaign for the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation’s Patient Resource Cupboard, that ended on Tuesday, Dec. 9, TD matched all donations to a maximum of $5,000. A grand total of $10,600 was put towards the Patient Resource Cupboard, which helps provide hygiene supplies, clothing, shoes, and other necessities to restore comfort and dignity to a person during during their recovery.
The hospital foundation posted a letter signed by Lisa and Darren M., to show how important these supplies are when someone is in need.
“The swift and coordinated efforts of the physician, lab technicians, ECG and radiology staff, and nurses were truly remarkable. One small but memorable gesture was when a care aide thoughtfully provided a tray with personal hygiene items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash – an act that exemplified the hospital’s dedication to patient comfort and dignity,” read the letter.
There are five different donation levels. Every $10 donation to the Hygiene Level will help provide basic hygiene items including toothpaste, a toothbrush, and soap and deodorant. For $25 to the Toiletries Level, the basic hygiene items will be provided along with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
Every $50 donation to the Comfort Level will include toiletries, in addition to socks, a sleep mask, ear plugs, and a phone charger. The Dignity Level of $100, will cover everything in addition to clothing like jackets, sweatshirts, and shoes. Finally, the Discharge Level is a donation of $300, and money will go towards funding the purchase of car seats, which are required for all parents when newborns are discharged.
It is not too late to donate.
