Road closures for the 27th annual CPKC Holiday Train in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows

Roads will be closed this evening for the 27th annual CPKC Holiday Train, which will be rolling in to the Port Haney West Coast Express Station in Maple Ridge and also making a stop in Pitt Meadows.

In Maple Ridge, River Road, between 223 Street and the Haney Bypass, will be closed from 5-10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19.

The City of Maple Ridge is asking drivers to follow all road signage around the closure.

The celebration will be running from 7-8:30 p.m., with the train pulling in at about 7:50 p.m. and the concert starting at 8 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the pre-arrival festivities, like: crafts, music, and hot chocolate, as everybody waits for the train’s arrival.

As parking will be limited, people are encouraged to park downtown and walk along 224 Street, also known as Candy Cane Lane, and south through the pedestrian tunnel to access the event.

Accessible parking will be available at the event site for those with valid permits.

In Pitt Meadows, the celebration will be taking place later that evening at the intersection of Harris Road and Advent Road, with the train expected to arrive at 8:55 p.m.

This means the Harris Road rail crossing will be closed between 124 Avenue and 122a Avenue between 8-10 p.m.

This year’s event features a special performance by the eight-time Juno Award-winning band, Barenaked Ladies.

The event is hosted by the Friends In Need Food Bank, and donations of cash and non-perishable food items will be collected by volunteers at both the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows stops.
