Woman, 19, victim in fatal vehicle crash in Pitt Meadows

The young woman who died in a car accident on Dec. 6, after her car struck a lamp post on Golden Ears Way in Pitt Meadows, has been identified as Angeleka Loxam.

Loxam was the only occupant of the Toyota RAV4 when it lost control and crashed at about 8:30 p.m.

An online fundraiser has been launched in memory of Loxam, 19, to support her mother and pay funeral expenses.

“Despite a passerby and first responders rushing to her aid, Angeleka sadly died at the scene,” said the online post by Sabrina Vergara. “This sudden loss has left her family and friends heartbroken and in shock, struggling to come to terms with the reality of her absence.”

She described Loxam as a compassionate person, who volunteered and worked in a nursing home.

“Her bright mind and big heart fueled ambitious dreams: Angeleka aspired to become a criminal lawyer, hoping to stand up for others and seek justice for those in need,” said Vergara. “Even at 19, she was already making a difference in the world, and those who knew her admired her determination and generosity.”

Loxam had a close, “best friends” relationship with her mother, as her only child. Loxam’s father had passed away four years ago.

“Angeleka was her mother’s whole world, and the void left by her absence is indescribable,” wrote Vergara. “Her mother is devastated and utterly alone, forced to endure a parent’s worst nightmare just a few years after losing her husband.”

The goal of the online fundraiser to support her mother as she grieves is to raise $11,000, and more than $7,600 has been raised so far. It will cover funeral expenses, counselling and grief support and basic living expenses “allowing her mother time to grieve without additional financial worry.”
