A semi-truck landed upside down, partially submerged on its roof, in the Katzie Slough during Wednesday morning’s atmospheric river.
The driver, a lone occupant, was conscious but still transported by ambulance with unknown injuries after the westbound semi cab failed to manouvre a 45-degree corner on Kennedy Road in rural Pitt Meadows at about 11 a.m. on Dec. 10.
Ridge Meadows RCMP said the driver was in the water for a brief amount of time before being able to free himself from the cab.
The crash also resulted in power lines being knocked down. A Hydro crew is on scene, and is expected to be there well into the afternoon.
The outage impacted 430 Hydro customers, from the Pitt River to some near Harris Road, on both sides of the Lougheed Highway.
Meanwhile, traffic will be blocked completely in the 17600-block of Kennedy Road for at least four hours, emergency personnel estimated.
