A familiar locale will be featured on a Netflix website near you.
Sossy’s Salloon in Agassiz (7215 Pioneer Ave.) will soon appear on the Netflix In Your Neighbourhood website, beginning Thursday, Dec. 4.
The local saloon appeared – as itself, no less – in the recent Netflix release The Wrong Paris, starring Miranda Cosgrove. As such, it will be featured on an official Netflix website featuring locales all over Canada that appear in Netflix original series and movies and encourages site visitors to seek out the filming locations as travel destinations.
As far as B.C. goes, the list currently includes six restaurants in Vancouver featured in four titles.
According to a report from Netflix, subscribers who check out Canadian content on Netflix are more 2.1 times more likely to say Canada is their number one travel destination.
Sometimes when filming takes place in Agassiz-Harrison, the front or interior of the building is changed to better fit the filmmakers’ needs. However, it appeared Sossy’s exterior was largely left as is.
The Wrong Paris is a romantic comedy that was partially filmed in Agassiz last fall. Cosgrove stars as a woman who joins a dating game show in hopes of visiting Paris, France, only to find out the show actually takes place in Paris, Texas. She tries to sabotage her chances of winning but falls in love in the process.
The Wrong Paris also stars Pierson Fode (The Man From Toronto, Out of Hand) and is written by Nicole Henrich (Vegas Bound, Leto). Janeen Damian (Irish Wish, Falling for Christmas) was the director.
Agassiz-Harrison has been featured in a number of productions in the past. This includes Tracker, which filmed here in March, Virgin River, another Netflix production, and Wayward Pines, a sci-fi series, starring Matt Dillon and Carla Gugino.
