Rainfall warning issued for Metro Vancouver and Sea to Sky

Environment Canada issued a heavy rainfall warning early Saturday (Nov. 22) for parts of Metro Vancouver and the Sea to Sky.

“A Pacific frontal system will bring heavy rain to parts of the South Coast this weekend. Light rain or drizzle will intensify to periods of heavy rain today (Saturday) and ease early Sunday morning with the passage of the system,” reads the warning.

The warning states that 50- 70 mm of rain is expected.

The warning includes the northern sections of Metro Vancouver, including West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, parts of North Surrey, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Howe Sound, and the Sea to Sky Highway from Squamish to Brandywine.

Drivers are cautioned to allow extra time for travel as water will likely pool on the roads and visibility might become “suddenly reduced at times.”

Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca.
