The Vancouver Goldeneyes hosted the Seattle Torrent in front of a sold-out crowd in Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver on Friday (Nov. 21).
Canadian soccer legend Christine Sinclair dropped the puck, which was given to her by three-time gold Olympic hockey champion, Meghan Agosta.
The Goldeneyes are the only team in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) to be the first tenants of the arena they play in, which means their logo is at centre ice.
Along with the logo at centre ice, the Vancouver Goldeneyes’ branding and player cutouts were featured throughout the newly renovated Pacific Coliseum.
The PWHL entered its third season on Nov. 21 with its original six teams: Toronto Sceptres, Montreal Victoire, Ottawa Charge, Minnesota Frost, Boston Fleet, and New York Sirens, along with the two new teams, Vancouver Goldeneyes and Seattle Torrent.
The Toronto Sceptres faced off against the two-time Walter Cup champions, Minnesota Frost, earlier in the night in St. Paul, MN. The Sceptres won 2-1.
In Canada, Tuesday night games will stream on Prime Video, Wednesday night games will be on TSN, Thursday night games will air on TSN and Sportsnet.
