The BC Conservation Officer Service confirmed that is responding to a grizzly bear attack in Bella Coola.
According to the agency, initial information suggests several people may have been injured in the attack.
UPDATE: Nov. 20, 4:11 p.m.:
A more specific location has been identified to avoid for those in the Bella Coola Valley after a bear incident the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 20.
People in the 4 Mile area of the valley are being asked to stay indoors and away from the highway near the Nuxalk administration office, and off of all trails in the area. Armed officers are responding to the incident.
UPDATE Nov. 20, 4:01 p.m.:
Residents on the Nuxalk Nation in the Bella Coola Valley are being asked to stay indoors and away from the highway after a bear incident on Thursday, Nov. 20 around 3 p.m.
With the situation still underway, RCMP and Conservation Officers have been called to respond, according to a post on the Nuxalk First Nation Facebook Page.
The post asked people in the area to stay indoors and a call to Nuxalk Nation resulted in the added information the location of the bear is still unknown at this time as the nation works to support those involved.

A bear incident is being reported in Bella Coola.
Nuxalk Nation confirmed the incident on a social media post, stating that both first responders are on site along with healers.
“For the safety of all, please stay indoors, off the highway and off all trails,” the post reads.
The nation also confirmed that conservation officers have been called to the scene.
