Dave Worfolk

October 19, 1936 – November 17, 2023

Born in 1936, Dave grew up in Hammond BC, the eldest son of Hilda and Fred Worfolk. Better at doing things than school, he enjoyed Scouts, fishing and hunting. Salmon fishing and golf on summer vacations in Parksville made him very happy. He became a civilian instructor with Air Cadets when his daughter Susan joined, and stayed with the squadron for many years. He was recognized as a top civilian instructor, and was a life member of H.A.C.S. He was a good golfer and was working at the local course when he met Sandra. They married in 1960. Dave apprenticed at BC Tel, starting as a pole climber, later installing PBX systems, and eventually becoming a troubleshooter. He retired after 35 years, remaining involved with the Pioneer Store and the monthly lunch group at Ricky’s. Dad was a collector and always had a story about why he had to keep something. He loved talking to people and helping people. Nothing made him happier. Dogs liked him. He enjoyed building and fixing things. He was a true handyman and had the tool collection to prove it. He lived with prostate cancer for 30 years and multiple myeloma for 3 years. He rarely complained. Thank you to the staff at the Residence at Morgan Heights, who kept him happy and engaged until the end with bingo, games and music. Being outdoors, watching birds, and fixing things were lifelong pleasures. Dave died on November 17, 2023, just after his 87th birthday. He was predeceased by his ex-wife Sandra, his parents and two of his four siblings. He is survived by his daughters, Mari, Sarah Phoebe and Susan, his granddaughters, Eleanor and Katherine, and his siblings Bernie and Ellen. His ashes were buried at Maple Ridge Cemetery in September 2025.
