Sherri chose to leave us on her son Andrew’s 29th birthday, October 6, 2025, which ensures that she will never be forgotten.
She arrived in Maple Ridge on December 15th, 1970 with a heart big enough to hold her family, friends, fishing community, beloved coworkers, the Golden Ears Metis Society, the lheidli t’enneh, and most of all her “kids” at M.R.S.S. and everywhere else she worked. Her treasures were all the notes, texts and phone calls letting her know you were okay and that she had made a difference. Her life was short but impactful, and if you see a rainbow, think of her.
Her family is heartbroken but infinitely better off for having had her in our lives. The courage, stamina and pure determination it took for her to stay with us was an inspiration. She is missed by her devoted husband Richard Britton, her three children, Jessica (Ryan, Zen), Andrew and Matthew, as well as her devastated parents, Pierce and Eileen Carlson. She also leaves her siblings, Sabie, Sandi, Candi and Sean and her in-laws, Joanne Hendricks and Penny Anderson.
Sherri was grateful for the kind and gentle care of Dr. Asif and Dr. Meyer and the Christine Morrison Hospice. She participated in the Genome Project, hoping that her journey would help those who follow. Her last request was “don’t be sad, live your lives and, above all else, have a Merry Christmas!”
A celebration of life will be held at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 216th Street, Maple Ridge on Saturday April 25, 2026 between 2:00 and 4:00 PM (see website). Wear your favourite hoodie or sweatshirt and a SMILE.
