Following a series of complaints about a suspected impaired driver in Chilliwack, a Kelowna man was stopped by police and is now facing criminal charges.
The man was reportedly driving erratically with his children in a brown Dodge Ram 1500 on Nov. 2 on Highway 1.
Multiple police agencies from Chilliwack to West Vancouver were contacted regarding the driver’s behaviour on the road.
BC Highway Patrol managed to locate the Dodge Ram just before 11 a.m. as it pulled up to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal, West Vancouver.
With the help of the West Vancouver Police, a 55-year-old Kelowna man was arrested for alleged impaired driving and prohibited driving.
Cpl. Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol said the man’s pre-teen boys were in the vehicle with him.
“It’s a sad situation, especially when children are involved, but it’s important that people see their police agencies working well together,” said Cpl. McLaughlin.
West Vancouver Police fed the boys and contacted the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development, who immediately stepped in to help.
The Kelowna driver has not yet been formally charged.
