RCMP investigating fatality in East Kootenay community

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has been deployed to Sparwood as part of a criminal investigation into a fatal motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian on Nov. 2.

At approximately 9:52 p.m., Elk Valley RCMP responded to the A&W at 131 Aspen Drive, where a man had been struck by a grey Toyota Tundra truck.

Despite life saving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the incident has been deemed criminal in nature, with the Major Crime Unit assuming conduct of the investigation.

“We are in the very early stages we are still gathering details about what transpired. We are requesting that anyone who saw a 2017 Tundra with BC License Plate LV4015 being driven on November 2, 2025, to please contact police” said S/Sgt. Jason Smart, NCO i/c of the Southeast District MCU.

“Additionally, anyone who may have dashcam footage in the area of Sparwood A&W on November 2, 2025, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., or anyone who may have information about the death and have not yet spoken to police are encouraged to call the Southeast District MCU information line at 1-877-987-8477.”
