Maple Ridge City Hall asking for public input on new design for Volker Park

The City of Maple Ridge has launched a new phase of public engagement for planned improvements at Volker Park.

The city is inviting residents to provide feedback on the proposed plans for a new playground and spray park. The original playground at Volker Park, located on 123 Avenue near Laity View Elementary, was significantly vandalized in January 2025, requiring a full replacement.

The new concept includes a more modern, inclusive playground and also adds features that were identified by the community as priorities – a spray park, picnic shelter, washroom, and parking area. Accessibility features include paved pathways, accessible play elements, barrier-free spray park surfacing, and a wheelchair-accessible washroom.

Residents are being encouraged to share their feedback on the proposed park design by participating in an online survey or attending the upcoming open house. The survey will run until Nov. 16, available at Engage.MapleRidge.ca/VolkerPlayground and in print by calling city hall at 604-463-5221.

There will also be a drop-in open house on Nov. 13, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Laity View Elementary School (21023 123 Ave.). City staff will be attending to answer questions, provide information, and gather feedback from the public.

The city will review feedback and finalize the park design. Construction is planned for 2026, with the goal of reopening the improved park in time for summer 2026.
