A record crowd of 32,066 watched Whitecaps FC power their way to a 3-0 win over Dallas in Game 1 of their MLS Cup playoff series Sunday (Oct. 26) in Vancouver.
BC Place Stadium was loud throughout the match as the dominant home team took an early lead in the Best of 3 opening-round series, which now shifts to Texas for Game 2 on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Daniel Ríos opened scoring in the 43rd minute, followed by a Thomas Müller penalty kick in the 60th — the German striker’s ninth goal of the year across all competitions in his first nine matches — and Kenji Cabrera in the 83rd minute.

Sunday’s game saw the largest postseason crowd in the Whitecaps’ MLS era.
Fans loved what they saw as the home team controlled play for more than 64 minutes of the match and had 10 shots on goal; Dallas had none. Shot attempts were 22 for the ‘Caps, none for the visitors.
Emmanuel Sabbi was the Erdiner Man of the Match for his strong play.
Next Saturday’s game at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, starts at 6:30 p.m. PT on TSN or Apple TV.
If necessary, a winner-take-all Game 3 would be back at BC Place on Friday, Nov. 7.
Winner of the Vancouver-Dallas series will face the winner of third-seeded Los Angeles FC and sixth-seeded Austin FC, which the ‘Caps would host should they advance.
