Glimpse offered at blueprints for Pitt Meadows Secondary

An open house is coming up for the public to get a first glimpse at the new blueprints for the Pitt Meadows Secondary School Replacement Project.

The event will feature display boards with updated draft designs and the anticipated project schedule.

Members of the project team, including Public Architects, will be also be available to answer questions and discuss how the ideas and feedback shared by community members during consultation in 2023 helped shape the designs.

In March 2023, the new school was identified as a priority project by the B.C. Ministry of Education and Child Care.

The ministry made their funding announcement for the replacement of the school in August, 2024, including a neighbourhood learning centre.

The project is now in the design and development phase, meaning preliminary consultations with the Pitt Meadows Secondary School community, the Katzie First Nation, and the City of Pitt Meadows have been completed.

During this phase, architects and consultants will be working on finalizing the school schematic design, which includes hosting this open house, and gathering feedback.

Once the consultations are complete, the architects will produce detailed construction drawings and specifications, and they will be seeking pre-tender approval from the Ministry of Infrastructure to proceed with construction.

This phase is expected to take until April, 2026.

The open house will be taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Pitt Meadows Secondary School gym.

For those unable to attend the open house, all the materials will be posted on the school district website, along with a short survey, starting on Thursday, Oct. 30.

The survey will be open one week, until Thursday, Nov. 6, at: bit.ly/40pvZ1P.

Those wanting to attend must RSVP to: register@sd42.ca by noon, Monday, Oct. 27.
