Maple Ridge Community Foundation is getting ready to celebrate individuals in the community who make a difference.
Nominations are open for the three Maple Ridge Citizen of the Year awards to be handed out in April.
The Citizen of the Year Awards recognize local heroes whose volunteer efforts—whether through leadership, advocacy, mentorship, or quiet acts of generosity—uplift the lives of others and enhance the spirit and image of Maple Ridge.
Since 1991, the award went to one exceptional volunteer in the community.
However, in 2018, the award was expanded to include three categories: the Youth Award for a remarkable individual 18 years or younger; the Teesha Sharma Memorial Award for a community member under 40 years old; and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Nominees must be residents of Maple Ridge, and consent must be given from the individual before nominating them.
Finalists are selected based on their contributions to the community, and the impact they have had.
The Citizen of the Year Awards will be handed out on Saturday, April 25, at Meadow Gardens Golf Club at the foundation’s 50 Golden Groove Gala.
