RCMP: Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant could be in Kamloops or Abbotsford

Police in Kamloops believe that a man who has a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large could be travelling to and from Abbotsford.

A press release on Monday (April 13) from the Kamloops RCMP states that Kurtis Justin Billy, 38, allegedly failed to comply with his curfew.

Cpl. Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP, said Billy is likely in the Kamloops area, but could also be travelling to other locations, including Abbotsford.

“If anyone sees Kurtis Billy or has information related to his whereabouts, please do not approach, but instead contact your nearest police detachment as soon as possible,” Napier said.

Billy is described as Indigenous, five foot seven and 161 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

Provincial court records indicate that Billy has a long criminal history, including convictions for dangerous driving, possession of stolen property, obstructing a peace officer, possessing or using a stolen credit card, theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, carrying a weapon or prohibited device, assaulting a peace officer, mischief, uttering threats, and multiple counts of breaching his bail and probation conditions.

Anyone who sees Billy is asked to contact the nearest police department or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
