Team Canada forward Natalie Spooner said it was a tough loss.
“Tough to lose that way on the three-on-three,” she said. “I thought we were right there all game. I thought we had a great start. We had a good fore check. We were getting chances. You know, probably maybe one of the best games we’ve been able to put together and tough when you lose that way.”
The United States defeated Canada 5-0 during the group stage.
Canada and the United States have faced off seven times in Olympic gold medal games; Canada has won four, and the United States has won three. This is the fifth time the game has been decided by one goal.
