Burned vehicle in South Surrey likely linked to fatal Monday house fire

A car fire in South Surrey is believed to be related to a fatal Monday morning house fire in Surrey’s Panorama Ridge neighbourhood.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is looking for anyone with information about a Monday night (Jan.12) vehicle fire “in the area of” Redwood Park, at 17900 20 Ave. in Surrey.

“At this stage, investigators believe this to be related to the ongoing investigation and are looking for anyone with information, CCTV or dash camera footage from the area between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Jan. 12,” the release noted.

“We believe this was a targeted incident with a potential nexus to organized crime,” said IHIT media relations officer Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi. “We are working closely with the Lower Mainland District Integrated Forensic Identification Service and the Combined Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia to advance the investigation.”

While the IHIT release said investigators are still working to identify the victim, veteran Vancouver Sun reporter Kim Bolan reported Tuesday (Jan. 13) that Brothers Keepers gangster and suspected hitman Naseem Ali Mohammed, also reportedly a rapper, was found dead inside the burning Surrey house Monday.

Investigators are still looking for anyone who has information or dashcam, CCTV footage from the area of the residential house fire in the 12700-block of 56 Avenue between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 12) to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
