The Chilliwack Chiefs and Coquitlam Express played into the early morning hours, with the Chiefs winning in the fourth overtime.
The game started at 7:06 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, and ended at 1:06 a.m. the following day. It was the second in the first playoff series of the season, and held at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
Both teams scored in the first of what would be seven periods. Maximilian Brunner notched the first Chiefs goal early on in the first, and that was answered by the Express’ Mitch Kneidel.
Arjun Bawa scored the sole goal for the Chiefs in the second period, bringing the Chiefs ahead 2-1.
Nico Grabas scored the Chiefs third goal in the third period. Two goals by the Express brought the game to a 3-3 tie at the end of the period.
Neither team was able to catch a break for three overtime periods. The fifth and sixth periods were also penalty free.
A break came near the end of the fourth OT period, when Drew DellaSalla scoring at the 16:26 mark. Boris Borin and Jayden Veney assisted.
The series is now 1-1, with Coquitlam winning the series opener the before – in the first OT.
They will meet next in Coquitlam’s Poirier Centre on April 6.
