The Haney Farmers Market is gearing up for a new season, and accepting applications from vendors and musicians, and new members of the market team.
The market opens for the first time on April 18, as a special event to coincide with the City of Maple Ridge’s annual Earth Day celebrations from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
After that, the market will run from May 2 until Oct. 31, every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Memorial Peace Park in the heart of downtown Maple Ridge (11925 Haney Pl.).
The market has been running since 2004, providing fresh produce from local farmers, crafts created by talented artisans, and prepared foods. There is also a food truck area.
On a market day there will be live music playing, a Cafe Corner outdoor seating area in the centre of the market where people can have a coffee and a treat, and more than 60 vendors to browse through. The market often partners with local events, and the gazebo is the site of repair cafes, local art exhibitions, dancers and other events, keeping the atmosphere lively.
The Earth Day market will feature an electric vehicle display, a Cycle Recycle Free Bike Draw, live stage performances, roaming entertainers and much more.
