The BC Provincial Extortion Task Force announced March 30 it secured the charge against Jaskarn Singh, 22, after he was arrested in Calgary on March 27. Singh has appeared in court on Alberta and is being held in custody pending his transfer to B.C. His next court appearance is set for March 31.
The overnight shooting happened in the 8100-block of 128 Street on Monday, July 21. The outside of a business was damaged but no injuries were reported nor damage to buildings nearby.
“Crime doesn’t recognize provincial borders, and our response can’t either,” Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound, Lower Mainland district’s assistant commander and operations officer, noted in a press release.
“The work of the BC Provincial Extortion Task Force relies on strong, coordinated partnerships with agencies across Canada. That collaboration allows us to move seamlessly between jurisdictions, follow the evidence wherever it leads, and disrupt those who believe they can evade accountability by crossing a boundary.”
