Tyler O’Neill’s opening day home run streak has ended.
According to Major League Baseball, (MLB), online, O’Neill, who hails from Maple Ridge, has hit a homer for the last six consecutive MLB opening games.
But, on Thursday’s season opener, with the Baltimore Orioles, O’Neill batted a single and a walk against the Minnesota Twins at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
The Orioles would win the game 2-1.
Most recently, O’Neill took his talents to the 2026 World Baseball Classic with Team Canada, that took place earlier this month, which Venezuela went on to win. Canada lost to the United States in the quarter finals, their best result ever in the tournament.
Last season, O’Neill struggled with three different injuries.
It was the first year of a three-year, $49.5 million deal with the Orioles.
But O’Neill has looked great in spring training games this year, going seven-for-11 at the plate with a home run and a double.
