The gloves have dropped in a tale of two cities immersed in Pacific Junior Hockey League playoffs.
With the PJHL’s White Rock Whalers and Mission City Outlaws currently battling it out in the league’s Harold Brittain Conference — and Stonehouse Cup — final, White Rock Mayor Megan Knight and Mission Mayor Paul Horn have agreed to a friendly wager.
An oft-celebrated sports tradition, the mayor of the team that does not finish playoffs with the cup must wear the opposing
team’s jersey, or a jersey swap.
‘It’s playoff time! In the spirit of fun (and hometown pride), Mayor Megan Knight has made a friendly wager with City of Mission Mayor Paul Horn, as the junior hockey teams face off in the playoffs,’ the City of White Rock posted on X.
“A jersey swap is on the line – Go Whalers!”
The Pod currently leads 3-1 in the playoff series, where the Outlaws won in OT at South Surrey Arena in Game 3.
Game 5 goes Tuesday (March 24) at Mission City Leisure Centre, with a 7 p.m. puck drop.
