BC Ferries cancels multiple Swartz Bay–Tsawwassen sailings

Several ferry sailings between Victoria and Tsawwassen have been cancelled Sunday, March 22, after a mechanical problem with a vessel’s generator, according to BC Ferries.

Cancellations for the day include the 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. sailings from Swartz Bay, as well as the 1 p.m., 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. departures from Tsawwassen.

To help accommodate passengers, two supplemental sailings have been added at 10 a.m., departing from both Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen.

Customers with bookings on cancelled sailings will be contacted by BC Ferries’ customer service centre with information on alternative travel options. If rebooking is not possible, fares will be refunded. Compensation may also be available for affected passengers, with receipts required for consideration.

Alternate service remains available via the Tsawwassen–Duke Point route connecting Vancouver and Nanaimo.

BC Ferries said it is continuing to investigate the issue and will provide updates as more information becomes available. The vessel is expected to return to service once repairs are complete.
