They’re baaaack!

After a six-year hiatus, Golden Ears Writers is returning with Lobby Nights at The ACT.

Golden Ears Writers held its last lobby night at The ACT in February 2020.

At the time, the long-running group (closing in on a decade at that point) had no idea they wouldn’t be getting back together again for six years.

This January, the City of Maple Ridge approached Golden Ears Writers about returning with their lobby nights, and they jumped at it, explained co-organizer Katherine Wagner – who publishes fiction under K.T. Wagner.

As before, Golden Ears Writers will be offering events aimed at beginners to experienced adult writers across a broad spectrum of topics and genres.

All lobby nights will be held on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m., confirmed fellow coordinator Ronda Payne.

There is no charge to participate. Twice a year there will be reading nights. And no meetings will be held in July or August.

Wagner and Payne, both Maple Ridge residents, are supported by a team of volunteers, including Bonnie Jacoby, Kirsten Poll (publishing fiction as Keay Francis), Lynn Easton (long-time co-organizer of Words in the Burbs), and Leslie Wibberley.

The first Golden Ears Writers Lobby Night at The ACT Maple Ridge is set for this coming Tuesday, March 24, from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Connect with fellow writers, then craft a series of story starts/ideas while learning some useful prompt-strategy tools for your writing,” said Wagner, who will guide the group through icebreakers, a short craft lesson, and writing prompts.

Paraticipants are asked to bring writing tools.

In subsequent meetings the group has an award-winning romance and women’s fiction author, Roxanne Snopek, attending. She’ll be there April 28, sharing, with examples, the rhetoric devices that transformed her writing.

On May 26, a panel of writers will present on self-publishing options. And at the group’s June 23 event, Golden Ears Writers will host a curated program of readings by local writers.
