Haines Junction is in the money after winning $50,000 in the Kraft Hockeyville competition.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the popular program, Kraft Hockeyville is awarding one extra prize in each jurisdiction in Canada.
The extra prizes are worth $50,000 each.
In the application submitted by a local resident (who isn’t identified on the site), the person wrote “since we live in such a small community, I think it is very important to have a place where people can gather and to have a positive time. The arena has been and continues to be one of the big hubs of Haines Junction, and many great memories have been made there. Our arena is also valuable to my family and my community.”
“The $250,000 would be an amazing thing for our arena, given that it is used so much. Hopefully, the money would go to hockey training equipment and upgrading the lockers. Since the rink is used so much, any equipment that would be purchased would be used a lot.”
