Hundreds of members of the Canadian Armed Forces will be in the Chilcotin area west of Williams Lake this week.
The 39 Canadian Brigade Group will be conducting Exercise Cougar Fortress 26 in the Chilcotin Training Area near Riske Creek between Friday, March 13, and Sunday, March 22.
According to a news release, approximately 350 soldiers will participate in this Brigade-level training exercise focused on defensive operations to strengthen operational readiness.
The training will include field manoeuvres, blank ammunition, live-fire activities including demolition within approved safety areas, military vehicle movement, and the use of Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS).
This will take place in the area identified as Block 7741 Training Area, previously known as the Chilcotin Military Range, about 50 km west of Williams Lake on the Chilcotin Plateau.
