Westgate Flower Garden is putting up the green, white, and gold as staff there gear up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday.
The celebration will begin at 1:30 p.m. sharp on March 14, three days before the actual day on March 17.
Both the Canadian and Irish national anthems will be sung.
There will be 15 Irish dancers from the Sionnaine Irish Dance Academy who will be performing outside the flower shop, rain or shine.
Staff at Hansel and Gretel Bakery have baked a cake resembling a tiered, green field with a rainbow and gold coins, special for the celebration.
And there will be a giant, floral horseshoe, created by the floral team at Westgate Flower Garden, featuring the colours of the Irish flag, for those attending to take photos with.
Hot drinks will also be served.
In addition, a guest speaker from Alisha’s Wish Foundation will be informing those gathered about the foundation’s purpose.
This is the 26th annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration put together by the flower shop’s owner Sandra Taylor.
“We invite everyone to come join us just dress warmly as this is an outdoor event. Their will also be some leprechaun eyes spotting the green so don’t forget to wear a piece of green for us. We love to love and so we hope you will find time to stop in for a wee piece of Irish love,” said Taylor online
“Wear a touch of green and come and have fun.”
Westgate Flower Garden is located in Westgate Mall, at 20398 Dewdney Trunk Rd., Maple Ridge.
