One man is dead following a reported shooting in downtown Kamloops on March 11.
RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Seymour Street, at about 4:30 a.m.
Officers arrived on scene to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. According to Staff Sgt. Kevin McIntyre, a medic, provided emergency care, and the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he eventually died from the wound.
The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime has taken over the investigation and believes that this incident was targeted. No arrests have been made yet.
While the crime scene was cleared later on Wednesday, investigators remain in the area following up with possible witnesses and additional evidence.
After speaking with the victim’s family, the man has been identified as Emmanuel “Manny” Brooks. A photo of Brooks has been released to assist with the ongoing investigation.
“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has information that could assist investigators, to please contact police,” said Staff Sgt. Kevin McIntyre. “We are also interested in hearing from anyone with video surveillance or dash‑cam footage from the surrounding area during the early‑morning hours.”
