The Meadowridge Gryphons senior boys finished eighth at the 2026 BC School Sports Provincial Championships Single A tournament.
Competing at the Langley Events Centre last week, the Gryphons took their first game on March 4 with an 81-67 win over the Campbell River Christian Cougars. Myles Galazka scored 25 points and was named the player of the game. Rico Xie also had a great game, with 10 points in the first quarter, and 20 for the game. Ethan Banack scored 13 points.
The Gryphons lost their next three contests. The first was to the Vernon Christian Royals, the third-ranked team in Single A, by a score of 75-61 on March 5. They were again led by Galazka with 15 points, centre Ryan Hemati-Boroujeni had 13, and Ethan Banack scored 11.
Galazka had a whopping 42 points on March 6, but his team lost to the Daaxiigan Sk’adaa Nee Thunderbirds of Masset by a score of 81-69. Ronic Bath also scored 10 points.
In their final game, they lost 85-39 to the Credo Christian Kodiaks on March 7.
The Similkameen Sparks of Keremeos won the tournament.
Meadowridge was the only senior boys basketball team at any level from the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows School District to qualify for the provincials this season.
