Lian Bichsel scored twice, lifting the streaking Dallas Stars to an easy 6-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks in NHL action Monday at Rogers Arena.
Adam Erne, Jason Robertson, Matt Duchene and Colin Blackwell also scored for the Stars (37-14-9), who have won nine straight games. Sam Steel and and Miro Heiskanen each had two assists for the winners, with Jake Oettinger stopping 13 shots for the netminding win.
Evander Kane scored for the struggling Canucks (18-35-7), who have dropped six games in a row and are mired in last place overall. Nikita Tolopilo took the loss in goal, making 31 saves.
Kane opened the scoring with his 11th goal of the season at 7:57. Jake DeBrusk broke down the right side and fired a shot that rebounded in off Kane’s skate as he drove to the net.

Dallas pulled even on a lucky goal at 17:40. Erne took a shot from the right offensive circle that hit Canucks defenceman Zeev Buium, then ricocheted off the back boards and banked in off Tolopilo. Erne has four goals on the year.
Shots on goal after 20 minutes favoured the Canucks, 7-6.
Dallas carried the play in the middle frame, outshooting the Canucks 16-3. Bichsel gave the Stars a 2-1 lead at 8:31, sneaking in from the point and taking a pass from defence partner Ilya Lyubushkin and beating Tolopilo for his second goal of the year.
Just 70 seconds later, on a power play, Robertson scored his 34th of the season to make it 3-1. Robertson took a feed from Duchene in the deep slot and fired a shot past Tolopilo.
The Stars extended their lead to 4-1 73 seconds into the third period. Steel pounced on a Marcus Pettersson giveaway and found Duchene, who slotted his 12th goal of the season into a wide-open net.
Blackwell made it 5-1 at 5:38, picking up a loose puck in front of Tolopilo and slipping home his third goal of the year. It was the 100th point of Blackwell’s career.
Bichsel tallied his second of the night at 15:41, again moving down from the point and firing a shot high over Tolopilo’s glove to give Dallas a 6-1 lead. It was Bichsel’s first-ever two-goal game.
NOTES: Vancouver’s Tyler Myers took the warmup, but sat out a third straight game for ‘roster management’ reasons as rumours of a move swirl ahead of the league’s trade deadline March 6… Max Sasson and Aatu Räty were also scratched for the Canucks, with Filip Chytil (facial fracture) and Thatcher Demko (hip surgery) sitting out with injuries.
