A historical announcement was made at Okanagan College’s (OC) Kelowna campus on Feb. 23.
The Hall Family Foundation is donating $10-million to OC’s school of business to ignite the spark in future entreprenuers.
OC President Neil Fassina made the announcement during a reception at the campus’ Centre for Learning.
“This is the largest gift in OC’s history,” Fassina stated. “And, it is the largest gift to any college in British Columbia.”

Teresa, Ed, Fraser, and Reagan Hall, the entrepreneurial family behind the foundation, were all in attendance to share the news of the funds and the new name for the program, the Hall School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
“It is our goal to try to light that spark in many more young people today so that they, too, may enjoy the fruits of their entrepreneurial and business endeavors,” said Fraser. “As an entrepreneur, mentor, and investor, I know firsthand the difference this support will make. This announcement marks day one of our vision.”
Fraser praised his dad, Ed, for being the driving force of that vision.
“We are confident that, with our investment, the Hall School of Business and Entrepreneurship will become the premier place in Canada for students to learn, practice, and launch entrepreneurship, as a school defined not just by excellence in the classroom, but by real-world impact and opportunity,” said Ed, who in 2014 served as an entrepreneur in residence at OC.
He was also the co-founder of Canadian Adult Communities and Regency Retirement Resorts, located in the Okanagan Valley.
This donation will include the Hall Entrepreneurship Incubator, located within the new Centre for Food, Wine and Tourism in Kelowna, with hubs at each OC campus. It will also include seed funding for students and local entrepreneurs to test business concepts, support curriculum and program development, and provide access to world-class entrepreneurs-in-residence and industry experts.
According to the dean of OC, Joe Baker, the college is ranked among the top business programs in British Columbia, and the school has a 10-year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
