Okanagan trivia company parts with founder over child sexual abuse material case

Tremendous Trivia has parted ways with its founder after learning about criminal charges he’s facing in Kelowna.

Jayson John Davey is facing charges of possessing child sex abuse/exploitation material from an offence dated July 24, 2025. Davey made his first appearance on this charge in Kelowna Provincial Court on Jan. 6, 2026.

In a post to social media, Tremendous Trivia stated, “We do not condone his actions. We were completely unaware of this until very recently, and we do not wish to interfere with legal investigation.”

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, Tremendous Trivia said an agreement was reached between two senior managers and Davey for the managers to take over the company and have Davey leave the business entirely. The company also said it is proud to invite back to work any former employees who resigned.

However, despite Tremendous Trivia taking action to remove Davey from the business, other establishments in Kelowna are moving away from the company entirely.

Train Station Pub and Mid-Town Station issued a statement on Feb.13 to social media stating that it would be ending its partnership with Tremendous Trivia.

“This decision relates to the actions of the company’s founder and does not involve the local hosts or staff. The safety, trust, and comfort of our guests and team members remain our highest priority,” read a post on Instagram.

This is not the first time the 56-year-old Davey has been charged with offences related to child sex abuse material.

The accused, formerly known as John Patrick Davy, was working as a Grade 6 teacher at Greendale Elementary School in Chilliwack in 2013, when he was found with more than 27,000 digital child pornography images and 866 videos.

Davy was found guilty in 2014.

However, in 2018, a judge sentenced Davy to 26 months in jail for the distribution of child pornography, 24 months to be served concurrently for possession of child pornography, and an additional four months to be served consecutively for a breach of undertaking charge.

The breach relates to after Davy was arrested in May 2013 for the child porn charges. He was then found in Kelowna in September with a computer that had more than 1,000 child porn images.

The 30-month sentence was reduced by the 286 days Davy already served in custody.

The accused, who is not in custody, is expected to appear in Kelowna courts on Feb. 24.
