Freestyle skier Megan Oldham wins Olympic gold for Canada in big air event

Canada has a second gold medal at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

Freestyle skier Megan Oldham, 24, of Parry Sound, Ont. topped the field on the women’s big air event on Monday. Oldham finished the competition with 180.75 points, just ahead of defending Olympic champion Eileen Gu (179.00) of China. Earlier in the Games, Oldham won bronze in women’s slopestyle.

Canada now has 11 overall medals – two gold, four silver and five bronze.

OLYMPIC NOTES: Team Canada beat Switzerland 2-1 in women’s hockey semifinal play and will meet the U.S. for gold on Thursday. Captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored both Canadian goals, in the process breaking Hayley Wickenheiser’s national team record of 18 goals in Olympic play.
