KEEPS is offering a history lesson.
The Kanaka Education and Environmental Partnership Society will host an open house event at the Watershed Stewardship Centre (11484 256th St.), next to the Kanaka Creek Fish Hathercy on Feb. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The society notes people have been hunting and gathering at Kanaka Creek for thousands of years, long before the recent arrival of the Hawaiian Kanaka people who the creek is named for, and European settlers. They invite residents to learn about the history of this fascinating watershed. Admission is free.
