Input needed for 2026/27 Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows School District budget

The Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows School District is looking for input into the budget for the 2026/27 school year.

Every year the school district develops a budget where they strive to address the evolving needs of students, staff, and facilities – while meeting their legal requirement to approve a balanced budget.

However, the school district noted that school districts across the province are facing increased financial pressures as the cost of delivering K-12 programs continues to outpace provincial funding.

“Within this context of budget rigidity, where fixed costs for employee benefits, technology, and facility maintenance rise faster than our funding, it is important that your perspective help inform the difficult decisions we must make to maintain a balanced budget,” said the school district online.

This year the district is moving to a two-phase public consultation process in order to make sure community perspectives are part of the planning from the earliest stages, the district said online.

The survey is the first phase.

People are being asked to provide their input on the values and priorities that will guide the development of the preliminary budget in the next school year.

Feedback gathered through this survey will be used alongside the school district’s strategic goals and operational requirements to shape the proposed budget which will be presented on April 15, for further public input.

The Online Budget Survey will be open until Wednesday, Feb. 18.
