Flames go for seventh straight win Friday night

The Ridge Meadows Flames are on a six-game winning streak as they enter action tonight, and have clinched second place in their conference.

Maple Ridge’s Junior A squad has just five games left in the regular season before the Pacific Junior Hockey League playoffs. The reigning league champions are locked into second place in the Tom Shaw Conference standings, with 31 wins and 13 losses.

They are coming off a 4-3 win over the Dela Ice Hawks last Friday, in a game that saw Matthew Biros, Manny Sandhu and Max Wingrove each gett a goal and an assist, and goaltender Matthew Candusso had a first-star performance with 37 saves on 40 shots.

Tonight, Feb. 13, they host the Burnaby Steelers at Cam Neely Arena. The Flames have been perfect through six prior meetings with the Steelers this season, including a 9-3 beatdown in their last game on Feb. 4, and two shutouts before that.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.
