Family Day adventure planned at UBC Research Forest

The Malcolm Knapp Research Forest in Maple Ridge will be the scene of a Family Adventure Day on Monday, Feb. 16.

Family Day will offer a day of fun, learning and adventure in the great outdoors. For $12 per family, they can learn survival skills in a hands-on environment.

They will learn how to construct a shelter using natural materials, build a fire, and then roast marshmallows and other treats over the flames while bonding around the campfire with stories, snacks and warmth.

It’s a way for families who love the outdoors to learn practical skills in a fun way. No wildlife experience needed, just a sense of adventure. Email wild.immersive@ubc.ca or call 604-463-8148 for more details.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. The event runs in two stages from from 9 a.m. to noon, or from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the UBC research forest at 14500 Silver Valley Road.
