Say ‘I love you’ with a song: Surrey-based chorus offers unique Valentine’s gift

There are many ways to say “I love you,” and, as Valentine’s Day nears, whether with flowers or chocolates or a reservation at a favourite restaurant.

You can also say it with a song.

As the international day celebrating love approaches, Westcoast Harmony Chorus is offering a distinctive way for people to show their loved ones how much they care with singing Valentine-O-Grams this Saturday, Feb. 14.

Interested individuals can call or email to book the Valentine-O-Grams, and the group — a non-profit, international award-winning competitive chorus based out of Surrey — will send a quartet to their loved one’s home, place of work, or anywhere of their choosing, throughout the Lower Mainland.

“It’s such a unique and fun way to let someone you know — your partner, coworkers, a friend, even community places like your favourite hair salon, bank teller, whoever! — that you are thinking of them,” Westcoast Harmony Chorus marketing cooridnator Kelly Collins noted.

“It’s easy to book, you don’t need to be there, and we send a personalized card/message on your behalf. Our quartets have shown up in restaurants , boardrooms, seniors centres , even dentist offices to deliver! The day is full of love, laughter and spreads kindness,” she shared.

The singing group went viral during the COVID-19 pandemic for creating an uplifting Zoom video they spent three months creating and has more than 80 members including women and gender-diverse individuals.

They sings a capella primarily in the barbershop style, with members travelling from all over the Lower Mainland, valley, Vancouver Island and even a few from Washington.

The singing Valentines cost $50 with a four-hour window to deliver, $60 with a two-hour window, or $25 for a phone telegram.
