The daughters of a Pitt Meadows senior who has been burned out of his home are seeking assistance for their father, who is a cancer patient.
Cheena Jean Slade made a social media appeal after her dad, 65-year-old Kerry Brogden, lost his home near Pitt Meadows Secondary school to a fire in late January.
“The fire happened only a few days before our father started cancer treatment, and he will be going in for some extensive surgeries in the next 2-3 months which will put him out of working for quite some time,” she wrote.
They are looking for clothing, non-perishable food, a radio, lamps, bedside tables, rugs and more.
”Our father lives very modestly and none of us have excess income or savings,” she wrote. “I have been able to purchase him a bed new, and we have gotten some donations already, but we are looking to source everything to set up his rental either by donation or second hand.”
Brogden has rental housing, and some donations have come in already, including a recliner, dresser, vacuum, kitchen wares, patio furniture and more. The community of Pitt Meadows has come forward in many ways, including people who are willing to help move.
His daughters will be in Pitt Meadows on Feb. 15 and 16, and can pick up donations those days.
