Ridge Meadows RCMP freezin’ for a reason with annual polar plunge

The Ridge Meadows RCMP is inviting anyone and everyone to “get bold and cold” for Special Olympics BC.

The annual Polar Plunge is coming up on Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at Alouette Lake South Beach. The fundraiser will be a collaboration between Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Coquitlam RCMP detachments, and will raise vital funds and awareness for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and strengthen inclusion across the province.

“We look forward to this event every year as our officers and staff are proud to support our Special Olympic athletes follow their dreams,” said Staff Sergeant Michelle Luca.

”In the last four years, the Ridge Meadows Polar Plunge has raised over $36,000 towards this great cause. We encourage everyone to show their support, whether it’s donating online or forming your own group and participating. Let’s keep ‘freezin for a reason’ for this annual tradition, which brings together all our amazing law enforcement and community partners.”

‘Special O’ offers athletes with intellectual disabilities year-round sport and health programs at low or no cost.

Participating in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC is an easy and fun way to make a difference by changing lives through the power of sport and opening hearts and minds to the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities.

They have already raised more than $11,000 and counting for this year.
